Regardless of what Holiday(s) you celebrate, I just wanted to take a moment to say that this season, we should stop for a moment, reflecting, forgetting the commercialism, and just appreciate what blessings each of us have.
Life is never, by any means perfect, but even amidst th…

I'll make this quick, but I just wanted to say that I saw Dread and had a proud moment when The Stevedores "Fearful" played at the end of it. Of course I watched all of the credits (as I do for each film but I particularly wanted to see The Stevedores name under the musical credit...) and I smiled when I saw the band's name scroll up there... then under the "Producers Would Like To Thank..." thing, they listed the entire band by each of their names!! :) Very cool. Very, very cool.
Screencapped…

As I sit here in my unusually quiet house, less than a week out from christmas. The tree is up and there are presents hiding in the house somewhere, it just doesn't seem like christmas.
A year ago, my 'baby' big brother was ordering me around telling me to get off my *** and do something. A year ago I was answering with a typical little sister response. This year I could only wish for the same arguement; On February 7th 2008 my brother passed away from cancer, with his four children, my mum, hi…

Each of you needs to know how important you are to our "quilt" of music and message here on the SBL. Together we're a really warm blanket!!!
Thank you so very much for all that you've shared and continue to share with us. Spencer has come to mean so much to so many of us; he's become a part of our daily lives, a part of our musical playlists, a part of our hearts... and to some of us a part of our very souls. He's become a family member that we never had - the cool brother that will mess…

"Hey Bill, I just wanted to tell you a little story. I shared Spencer's music with my friend Justine. She is the Vice President of the Invisible Children chapter at my school. Invisible Children is a nonprofit working to stop a 26 year war in Northern Uganda where they abduct children and use them as soldiers and sex slaves. Justine made a video of all of the things we did this year, and in it she used Beautiful, More So. I just wanted to share the video with you and show you my friends wh…

One of my fondest Christmas memories actually didn't even happen during Christmas time. Hayley and Lindsay informed me that their cousins had told them about Santa. They asked me if it were true that I had given them all those presents and not some guy that comes once a year from the North Pole. I had to admit the truth and then they both asked "How did you do all that?" At that moment I was finally able to take all the glory back from the guy in red. Both girls were in absolute awe when I expla…

MISPLACED:
Don't know what goddess
Forgot me in that mess
Or which fate's dress
I should tug on.
Maybe it's Kharma' s toga
That would get me out of this drama
Or should I pray Buddha
To stop sinking down?
Someone up there
Misplaced me somewhere
That's not fair,
But they're already gone.
My place is not here
But it's not there either
Am I stuck forever
In this muddy brown?
Lost, not really
Fallen, surely
Misplaced, more accurately
I've just been forgotten.
PRAYER OF THE N…

Welp, we keep listing the countries where people have found Spencer's music (it doesn't matter how, really, does it?).....
Selina is in Italy and she sent cash to me a long time ago (dangerous, but there was no other way!).....I sent her a package that the post office all but assured me wouldn't likely make it because it had a tee-shirt in it (Italy has very strict rules)...
Today I received this from Selina.....:
Hi Bill!!
How are you? I hope everything it's ok!!
This morning I've got…

Every Christmas Eve my unlce, aunt and our cousins would come over and we would eat some awesome food and my mom would play the piano while we all sang Christmas carols. We each got to open one gift that night. My sisters and I would set out cookies and some milk, and like you Bill we would set out carrots for the reindeer, but I never really thought about putting them outside. I guess I just never thought about the fact that the reindeer don't come inside to eat them, and I guess my parents did…

I was in first grade when a boy, (we will call him "John"), decided to tell everyone in my class that Santa wasn't real. I went home and said, "Mom, John told me that Santa isn't real, that it is you and Daddy pretending." My mothers face fell for a minute and then she looked me dead in the eye and said, "Well, when you stop believing, he stops coming." I thought it over for a minute and then looked my mom in the face and said with my biggest and best smile, "I BELIEVE"!!!! Up until the year she…

Like all of you, I have some great memories from past Christmases. Unfortunately, I can't recall them all, but here's some things I
do remember.
-As much as I was very excited about a visit from Santa every Christmas, I also remember being a bit apprehensive, too. No idea why. Perhaps the thought of some strange guy coming into my house unnerved me a little, but I knew he was harmless, of course :-)
-I had a mini Christmas tree on a circular table next to my bed. Every year, my parents…

I thought I would come share a memory for the holidays.
As long as I can remember we always had Christmas Eve at my Grandmother and Grandfather Hyde's house and Christmas Day at my Grandmother Yarbrough's house. We would get together on Christmas eve at the Hyde's and there would always be wonderful snacks and food to fill ourselves with. There were the staples that we did every year. My grandmother would always make a chocolate cake, my aunt Sharon always made her peanut butter cookies. We woul…

I grew but in rural Australia so Christmas was very different from what most of you will have experienced.
My earliest memory would be going out into the Pine Forest with my father, brother and sister to try and find the biggest bestest tree we could find. Dad would chop it down, tie it to the roof of the car and then when we got home Mum would complain about the size and then the mess the sap and needles would make on the carpet, but it was always a great smell.
The biggest difference is quite…

My holiday memories are like puzzle pieces; some fit and some have no place.
My earliest holiday memory was myself, my dad, grandfather and my mom. I was an anxious kid in those days. I couldn't wait to open all the colorful boxes underneath the tree. We had used the same huge fake tree for as long as I could remember. Matter of fact, the pegs were color coded for the appropriate holes. My mom took pictures and one I still have was of my dad, granddad, and myself at the tree.
My next memory wa…

The memory of Christmas that stands out the most to me is actually one that taught me the greatest lesson.
When I was younger, we didn't have very much money. I am the youngest of five (I have three brothers and a sister), so when it came to Christmas (especially in my earlier years) it was always a hard time for my parents. We usually got a lot of small presents rather than expensive ones, probably to make it seem like we had more, which I didn't mind. I was never disappointed with Christmas a…

I have so many great holliday memories -- some a little wierd, but all of them special.....
- My grandparents! My paternal grandparents used to bring the whole family together on Christmas Eve at their home. No easy task simply due to the sheer volume of people! But we'd all cram into Gram and Pop's house for dinner, presents, and family time. One of the most notable memories of this was -- remember I said some were wierd -- my Pop hated to be cold (I inherited this gene!) so he kept their hous…
