I got accepted to a new college, in a new state. I'm a different age, older, a little wiser. I have a tenative outline for how I want the next four years to go - and banking on the new decade to be a hell of a lot better than the last one.
I'm done mourning, done letting myself down. I'm just done trying to be somebody else.
I want to be me for a change, and this year is the year to do it.
My resolution for the year 2010, and the decade to come?
To…

I plan to spend it with my kids.
No crazy parties for me, I just want a relax day sitting around coloring and watching silly cartoons with them.
Cherish the small moments, They grow up so fast.

WOW! 2009 is ending and 2010 is about to begin. I just thank God that I am still here to see another year. Since my initial cancer diagnosis in 2002 I realize each day is a gift to be treasured. A new year means God in His infinite wisdom has given me another day to praise Him and to share my story. I pray that God will continue to use me in whatever way He wants. I pray for each of you health and happiness in the new year and am thankful to be able to call you friends.

To start, I'd like to wish you all a safe and happy new year. I know that where I am, it's not quite 2010 yet, but for some of you, I believe it is :-) So again, happy new year!
My feelings on moving into a new year have really changed as I've gotten older. When I was younger (as with many people, I'm sure), I was somewhat unaware about what we were celebrating. If I went to a party or gathering, I wasn't really thinking about the fact that I was leaving one year behind, never being…

I would first like to say Happy News Years to everyone!
I can't believe that the year is already over and a new one is begining. My life has been speeding past me for awhile now and I never seem to be able to take the time and relax as much as I would like. I have had several thoughts of quitting everything and moving out of this town so that I can become a beach bum! j/p
I had an interesting conversation the other day where I was remembering my child hood with another…

This is where I lose my joyful (?) outlook!
I'm not a fan of New Year. I really couldn't tell you why, it just seems to be the one time of the year that never fails to make me miserable!
However, I do have some goals for the coming year. I'd say I'll give up smoking, but I know I won't. I never do. So - on that note, I shall just take it as it comes and maybe by 2011 I'll be smoke free. Or maybe not.
My main goal is to be happy with myself. There are a lot of…

Another year has slipped away and honestly - I am in shock to find myself sitting here on December 31st AGAIN! How does this happen? When I was a kid the distance between Christmas' seemed like forever....now it seems like a blink of an eye!
So much has happened this year......
- all of my kids in are in school now. I honestly thought that day would never come, but it did. Kellie's a junior in college, Kamryn is a freshman in high school, Aimee is in third grade, and Jake…

My hope for the new year is a quieter year. I don't believe in New Year resolutions. If it wasn't something you could commit to any other time of the year, IE losing weight, quitting smoking, stressing less, then how are you going to commit to a New Year resolution? I make changes throughout the year instead. 2009 has been hard. No way around it. I don't want to get into all the changes the US as a whole has went through in the last year, because we've been through all that. As for me, I am…

Jodie Platz gave me the idea to invite you all to blog on with how you plan to go into 2010. Any changes? Stop something? Start something?
I know (at my advanced age!) I can boil down the wishes I have for me going into a new year - they're largely the same as they are whenever I stop to think about what I'm doing everyday. They're just words, but they're also goals:
*
perspective - with good perspective most problems or issues (or yucky people) don't get to me like they…

Though I may not be very old or very wise, I would like to share with you something that I firmly believe in as far as New Years traditions go.
Throughout the year, you get a lot of residual karma buildup... perhaps you weren't entirely good this year, perhaps you could have been better... or perhaps you were better this year than you had been in any year past, who knows... only you know.
Maybe this isn't something you invest a lot of time and thought into, I don't know --…

This is a poem I wrote for my grandpa when we found out there was nothing else they could do to fight his cancer. He passed on December, 23, 2000. I just wanted to share.
When you're a little girl you think your papaw will always be there.
You let all the childhood memories pass by without a care.
You're out with your friends talking about future plans and doing lots of wishing.
You never have a second thought about all the times he took you fishing.
You sit and…

Well, I'll start with the good news. I'm doing well on selling the merch I received without even getting the table at wal mart yet. I'll have it in mid January. So that's good. We have new Spencerians in Cullman, Alabama. :)
The bad news is that we found out a few days ago we will not be able to attend the Legacy event in Dallas. We are having some financial issues and trying to put everything we do have into our business Rabid Chinchilla Photography.…

Dana Olkkonen was a good friend of Spencers at Interlochen:
I met Spencer at Interlochen my Junior year his Sophomore. I wanted to write to you something that I am most definite only I would be able to send you.
One of his counselors in Hemingway (Sparky) made something called the 3 minute question. He would write this question over the front desk and throughout the day anyone was welcome to write their response as a free association exercise within the 3 minutes. It… Continue

I HAVE to tell you one more thing.
Don't worry, I won't blog about my nephew too often but that one really deserve to be here.
Yesterday, I was waiting in the car with my nephew while my sis' and my parents were in a store. He was being bored so I tried to sing him a song for kids. He was completely ignoring me, looking thru the window to see where his mom was. Remember, he is 18 months old.
Then, the only song I had in head was "Marvin Gaye". It is one of my…

Wonderful night with the family and especially my beautiful, sweet , cute little nephew. Who happens to be my Godson too. Ahaha, I can spoil him twice !! ^^ As his godmother AND his auntie.
I wanted ot share a little family moment we had this morning.
I was with my nephew, Felix, in his room and my parents came in to play…

Just wanted to pop on here and wish everyone on here a very Merry Christmas...
Eat too much, drink til you're tipsy at least, laugh too loud and hug those who surround you until they struggle to breathe... Stay safe, stay health & most importantly stay happy.
And remember "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen...."
Don't get (too) caught up in all the commercial crap.... I *heart* you all :-)

I've spent a week with my 2 year old niece, and she LOVES this song. Thought I should share it with you. It's the traditional tune that I'm sure you all know - enjoy!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Regardless of what Holiday(s) you celebrate, I just wanted to take a moment to say that this season, we should stop for a moment, reflecting, forgetting the commercialism, and just appreciate what blessings each of us have.
Life is never, by any means perfect, but even amidst the most hectic of days, there is still something we should be thankful for.
Love, kindness, family, friends.. being among the top of the…
