An artistic legacy doing good things
Here's to the New Year, and all the ties we've tied. It's been a crazy year. Some VERY trying times, and some absolutely AMAZING times as well. Strengthening of friendships, severing of some unhealthy ones, and oh the music, music, music. Did you know that 2013 will be the first year since 1987 that does not have a repeating number in the year? Seriously. Check this out: 1988 (two 8's.) Do that with all the years up until 2013. Repeating numbers in every one of them. 2013 is unique. I look at it as a good omen, a chance to be different, live different, be unique, make a fresh start. For me, this means hitting the ground running in multiple areas of my life. Gonna ask that girl on a date, gonna get my car paid off QUICKLY, gonna go to school, gonna be a better friend, gonna write more poetry, and gonna rock some faces with my band. Speaking of the band, we're starting to solidify the line-up finally. We now have a bass player, who also plays a Moog Bass Pedal Foot Organ. He's visiting family and friends in Chicago until January 7th, but when he gets back, band photos, more writing, practicing, and then quickly hitting the recording studio. This will be followed by shows. The band's sound is going to be more or less different degrees of Doom Metal. Wikipedia that term if you're unfamiliar. Basically, Doom Metal mixed with 90s emo (i.e. Sunny Day Real Estate, Appleseed Cast, Mogwai, NOT: My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional, or any of the other mopey, whiney stuff.) The drummer is super excited, and the bass player is hungry to learn some new tricks, musically. 2013 will be another music filled year for me, but to a greater extent. As always, I will keep you updated on the band, but more importantly, I want to know what's going on with all of you. This is a 2-way conversation. I love and appreciate each and every one of you, and hope your 2013 will be one of the most epic years of each and every one of your lives.
