An artistic legacy doing good things
So this weekend, I put a down payment on my first expensive guitar.
It's a Seagull S6 Original Acoustic-Electric guitar and it is just beautiful. The tone is so rich and I can't wait until he is officially mine.
It's official now, though. This proves to myself and everyone that me being a musician is not just a phase or a fad. This is what I was born to do. This is what I'm going to do. This is what I love to do.
The purchase of this new guitar is also somewhat bittersweet, though. It means I will be officially retiring Louie, my trusty ol' cheap $60 guitar that my mom bought during Christmas at Walmart. The guitar that sat in the back of my closet for nearly 5 years, ignored and doomed to never see the light of day again, when all of a sudden, something possessed me to pick it up and teach myself the first song I ever learned to play on the guitar; Spencer's "Return to Earth."
The same song that I entered a contest with and the same song I was granted the opportunity to perform in front of 200+ people at my very first Spencer Bell Legacy Show.
All on the same ol' guitar that helped me record my first EP.
As much as I love my Louie, he doesn't look the best nor does he have the best sound in the world. He will be used one last time to record my second EP and then after that, he will be put away except for the rare sentimental occasions when I take him out for a little jam session.
Here's to the next chapter!
Cheers.

Congratulations Melissa, I'm so excited for you!
Although it's a bittersweet change, I'm sure Louie won't mind when you make friends with your new guitar. :-)

Make sure Louie gets his return to earth aka the closet. Cause you never know when you'll be needing him again!
